Starting June 3rd, we will be accepting 8mm film reel drop-offs.
Media can be dropped off with staff by appointment or during staffed hours. Please call Studio staff at 815-485-2605 ext. 127 or email studio@newlenoxlibrary.org for an appointment.
Super 8 & Regular 8 Film Digitization
Super 8 and Regular 8 film can be digitized to standard-definition DVD. Small reels (3.5" or under) are $5 each, and larger reels are $10 each. Video files (mp4) can be saved onto a flash drive.
Drop off services are limited to 10 reels per month for New Lenox Library card holders and 5 reels per month for other PrairieCat library card holders. All film must be dropped off with Studio staff only.
Please bring your reels in to be assessed; not all can be converted. Any number of reels adding up to $20 maximum can be submitted at one time. We recommend not discarding your film reels once converted. Analog film is higher quality than our current digital products and can be reconverted as technology advances if that is important to you.
Disc Duplication
CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays can be duplication for 25¢ per disc. Home- and self-created video and audio only. No copyrighted works may be duplicated. Maximum of 50 duplications at one time.
