We are in Phase 5 as of Friday, June 11, 2021. Please visit our main COVID-19 page for details. This page is now archived and will not be updated.
How do I place a hold on an item?
You can place a hold through the library catalog, the PrairieCat library app, or by contacting us directly. Our system will let you know when the item is ready for pick up by phone or email, and we'll put it on the library's hold shelves. Please check out your materials with staff when the library building is open. (If you requested Grab & Go, your items will already be checked out for you.)
What materials can I put on hold or check out?
- Holds can be placed on all books, audiobooks, CDs, and DVDs
- The Tech2Go Collection is available
How long before my hold is ready, and how will I know when to pick it up?
If you placed a hold on a popular item, you can check your spot in line by logging into your Library account. If the item you requested is currently available on the shelf at our location, you can pick the item up from the shelves and check them out with staff or at the Self Check. Delivery from other libraries is back to normal.
I like to browse your collection to find items I’m interested in, but I don't want to come into the branch. How can I do that online?
There are a variety of ways to do that.
- Browse our online catalog on a computer
- Browse the same catalog in the PrairieCat app
- Use Novelist Plus and Novelist Plus K8 to pick out books by genre, character types, mood, tone, and more
- Visit What Do I Read Next? for more library and outside resources
