Operation H.O.P.E. for Additional PPE
New Lenox Public Library is partnering with eight other area libraries and opening their book drops to collect donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for area hospitals and health care workers.
Operation H.O.P.E. (Handing Out Protective Equipment) is a collaborative effort between local libraries to work together to help support our health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Donations will be dropped off at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center Joliet, and Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers.
Book drops will be open to collect PPE only.
Participating libraries will be collecting the following:
- N95 masks
- Procedural masks
- Isolation gowns
- Surgical gowns
- Disposable lab coats
- Tyvek coveralls
- Hand-sewn masks (Face Mask Sewing Pattern: www.craftpassion.com/face-mask-sewing-pattern)
- Hand sanitizer and bleach wipes

Any of the above items can be dropped off in participating book drops beginning on Friday, April 10 at these locations:
- New Lenox Public Library, 120 Veterans Pkwy, New Lenox
- Joliet Public Library Black Road Branch, 3395 Black Rd, Joliet
- Shorewood-Troy Public Library, 650 Deerwood Dr, Shorewood
- Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois St, Plainfield
- Lemont Public Library, 50 E Wend St, Lemont
- Three Rivers Public Library District Minooka Branch, 109 N Wabena Ave, Minooka
- Coal City Public Library, 85 N. Garfield St, Coal City
- Robert W. Rowe Public Library, 120 E. Si Johnson Ave, Sheridan
Book drops will be open to collect PPE only.
