The Home Delivery service at New Lenox Library provides free Library delivery services to individuals who are residents within our district boundaries and are unable to physically come to the New Lenox Library.
Delivery and pick up is available to individuals unable to come to the Library due to mobility, health, or disability barriers. Whether you are at home, in assisted living, or in a nursing facility, you are eligible. Temporary disability, such as surgery or birth recovery, is also eligible.
You must be a resident of New Lenox District and have a current New Lenox Library card. If you are in our district but don't have a card yet, Home Delivery can come to you! Contact Dominic at homebound@newlenoxlibrary.org or call Adult & Teen Services at 815-485-2605 ext. 400 to ask for a library card sign-up home visit.
The Outreach Coordinator will contact the applicant to explain how to request books and other materials, as well as help with suggestions based off of your application. We deliver on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
The lending period for New Lenox Library items through the home delivery program is flexible, generally 4 weeks. You can renew your materials one time.
Materials not available at the time of request will be placed on reserve and delivered when they become available. Please note that there may be waiting lists for new and/or popular items.
Yes! The lending period for new releases is 4 weeks for Home Delivery patrons.
The library has a large collection of large print and regular print books, as well as many audio books, back issue magazines, movies and music that we can deliver.
The Library does not limit the number of items that may be borrowed per delivery through this program, with the exception on new release DVDs and TV Series, which is limited to one per checkout.
Once we have discussed what materials you are interested in, we will schedule a time to visit your home to deliver materials. Home visits are scheduled on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
Materials will be delivered to and picked up from each participant’s residence by Library staff or volunteers.
Participants will be charged the replacement cost for materials that are lost and/or damaged while in their care.
If you know someone who could potentially benefit from our Home Delivery service, refer them today! Fill out the form on this page, visit the Library building, or call Adult & Teen Services at 815-485-2605 ext. 400, and we’ll take care of the rest.
