Can't Find it?

Request an Out-of-System Loan

An interlibrary loan or ILL is an item borrowed from outside our library system, PrairieCat.

Only New Lenox Public Library patrons in good standing can request an ILL from New Lenox Library. If you are from a different library, please contact your home library.

How do I put an item in our catalog on hold?

If the item you’re looking for is checked out to another patron, or if you want an item from another library, you can place a hold for that item. (“Request an item” and “place a hold on an item” mean the same thing.)

To place a hold, go to the Catalog in our blue navigation bar at the top of this website.

You will receive a phone call or email when your item is ready to be picked up.

Put a Hold on One Item

  • Search the Catalog to find the title of the item you wish to reserve.
  • Click on Request It next to the title.
  • If you are not already logged in, you will be taken to the log in page. Enter your library card number located on the back of your card and your pin (last four numbers of your library card), and click Submit.
  • A box will pop up. Choose a pick-up library from the dropdown choices. Click Submit to finalize your request. You will get a Hold Placed confirmation message.

Put a Hold on Multiple Items

  • Search the Catalog to find the title of the item you wish to reserve.
  • Click on the shopping cart icon next to the title. The item will be placed into your bookcart.
  • Repeat this process for additional items.
  • When you’ve chosen all of your items, click on My Book Cart at the top of the page.
  • Click on Request It above all of your items.

How do I renew an item without coming into the library?

As long as your items are not already overdue, you can renew your items from home:

  • Click on the My Account button in the upper right hand corner of this website.
  • Enter your library card number located on the back of your card and your pin (last four numbers of your library card), and click Submit. This will take you to your account page.
  • Click on Checkouts.
  • If you would like to renew all your items, click renew all. Otherwise, click the box next to the items you would like to renew and then click renew marked.
  • The following screen will appear showing the items that you are renewing. Click yes to proceed.
  • Once you have renewed the items, you will see a screen that shows the new due date. If for some reason an item cannot be renewed, it will show you:

If you have any issues with renewing an item, please contact the library at 815-485-2605.
