Teen Volunteers are Needed this Summer

The Youth Services department is seeking responsible, dependable, enthusiastic, and friendly teens to help with the 2014 Summer Reading Program. Volunteering over the summer is a great way to earn community service hours for your school or other organization, and volunteers are needed to help with many different activities over the summer.

All new and returning summer volunteers must:

  1. be entering at least grade 7 in the fall
  2. fill out a volunteer application
  3. attend one mandatory info session with a parent in April
  4. take part in a mandatory hands-on training session in May

The required teen and parent info sessions will be held Tuesday, April 29, and Wednesday, April 30, at 7:00 pm. Registration is going on now for the info sessions, so be sure to sign up for one with your parent. All summer volunteer applications are due May 10 (no exceptions). Hands-on training sessions will be held in May (dates TBD).

Join the Art Club

Spaces are still available in The Art Club, which is meeting on Monday, April 21, from 4:30-5:30 pm. In this program, kids in grades 1-8 create some awesome art, discover new books, and do other activities. April's art project is Bubble Art! Kids will create some "pop art" by blowing bubbles with paint to create their own masterpiece. Register today.
