Welcome! Adult Services is located on the second floor of the New Lenox Public Library. We provide reference, research, and reader's advisory services, as well as assistance with the 22 computers available in our Technology Center. We also are happy to help you maneuver the web or any of our valuable online resources available to you as a New Lenox Library cardholder from our research page.

Needle and Fiber Arts Group

Meets the first and third Wednesday of the month @ 6:30 p.m.
Next Meeting; August 4 & 18

Learn and enjoy a variety of needlework arts, such as knitting, crocheting, felting, needlepoint, and embroidery. Bring your own materials. All ages and skill levels welcome.


Writer's Group

Meets the first and third Wednesday of the month @ 6:30 p.m.
Next Meetings; August 4 & 18

A meeting place for writers to share their work for encouragement and critique. Group is moderated by Miles Snyder of New Lenox.


Genealogy Club

Meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month in Meeting Room B at 5:30 pm.

Haunted History

Monday, July 26th @ 6:30 p.m., Meeting Room A & B, Registration Requested
“Sit Back and Listen...If You Dare!” Hear the entertaining and chilling tales of the historical hauntings of the Midwest. Stories of the S.S. Eastland, Brookfield Zoo, Fort Dearborn Massacre, and John Dillinger (just to name a few) will give you goosebumps, while giving you a bit of history at the same time! Sponsored by the Friends of New Lenox Library in conjunction with the Manhattan-Elwood Public Library.


Bright Start

Thursday, July 29th @ 6:00 p.m., Meeting Room B, Registration Requested
The Illinois State Treasurer’s Office administers two Illinois 529 college savings plans: Bright Start and Bright Directions. Both plans are designed as “qualified tuition programs” under Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. Under the Illinois 529 college savings plans, your investments grow tax-free as long as your withdrawals are used to pay for higher education expenses (e.g., tuition, fees, books, room and board). As an Illinois resident, you also enjoy additional tax benefits.

Cash Dash

Do we have your money? You may be among the millions of people, businesses and heirs who have cash or valuables owed to you in the State of Illinois. Come search the Illinois State Treasurer’s database and see if there is money with your name on it!


Computer Classes

Limited to New Lenox Library cardholders. Five person minimum required for each class. Most classes are limited to 15 spaces; some only 10. You can register for a class by calling the library Adult Services desk at (815) 485-2605 or by e-mailing nlreference@newlenoxlibrary.org. However, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1 there will be a $5 non-refundable registration fee for each computer class. The fee is payable at the time of registration and registration is not considered complete until the fee is paid. Under certain circumstances the fee can be refunded if cancellation is made 24 hours or more before the class.

Book Discussion

New Lenox Public Library District currently provides meeting room space and obtains books for three book clubs. These clubs are member-run and generally meet once a month. Please consider joining one or all of these clubs and start discussing, sharing and enjoying the experience of reading with a group! Call to reserve your copy of a book today!

Adult Book Club

The Hiding Place by by Corrie Ten Boom
Wednesday, August 11, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The Adult Book Club reads mostly fiction and occasionally some best-selling non-fiction. This group meets the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30-7:30 p.m.





Busy Mom's Book Group

Meets the first Monday of the month at 10:30 am There are no meetings scheduled for July or August. This group will resume meetings again in September

The Adult Mystery Book Club meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 1:30-3pm.
